South Carolina State Fairgrounds HistoryIn 1869, the first South Carolina State Fair was held in Columbia. The Fair was organized in the interest of the education, agriculture and business in South Carolina. The South Carolina State Fair grew large enough to be moved to its current location at 1200 Rosewood Drive in 1904. Although the South Carolina State Fair Grounds were built on agricultural and livestock competitions, the Fair has grown to today to also include entertainment, special events and rides.
